How S.A.V.E. Came to Be
From the words of our founder, Taylor:
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.
Well, actually it was 2005 in Coventry, Rhode Island; my fellow classmates and I came across a horrendous sight at Knotty Oak Cemetery. There were several gravestones knocked over and all of us were very surprised. Even though we expected to see some vandalism here, we were still blown away by the enormous amount of disrespect to other's property. Right after that I went to my History teacher, Mr. B, and talked to him about the problem. I was inspired to create an anti-vandalism group. He supported me 100% of the way and I thank him very much for that. Next, comes my classmates and friends who I did not even have to ask to join the program (they were so disappointed about the gravestone smashings that, immediatetly after they heard of my program, they decided to come see me). They, like my teacher supported me 100% of the way. And now, we are at a very high point and I have to say that I could not have done it without them.
Throughout last year and even into this year, our organization has grown and is getting bigger. The Middle School has over 125 members with a core of 40 and the High School has over 65 members with a core of 15. These 180+ people in our organization make up the fastest growing YCWA affiliate in the USA. I never would have thought before that our organization would have it's own website!!! Well, we've done it, and I thank eveyone who has helped us by either grants or maybe a little push along the way, which includes; Attorney General Patrick Lynch, Walmart Supercenter, Victor Moffit & Company, Kids Consortium, Coventry Public Schools, Youth Crime Watch America, our Advisor Mr. B. and of course all of our committee members.
Sincerely,
Taylor T.
